Whether I’m designing for the Gal Meets Glam Collection or picking out my outfit for the day, I’m constantly inspired by vintage style and the movies I grew up watching. When you watch films like Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and High Society, it’s easy to see where my affinity for dresses, silk scarves, and cat-eye sunglasses comes from! Another one of my wardrobe staples I can immediately trace back to Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly? Loafers, which I’ve amassed quite the collection of over the years. I’m so glad they’re popular right now because that means it’s easy to find beautiful pairs to fit any and every outfit, especially as we head into the fall. Here are three loafer styles I think every classic girl should have in her shoe collection:
Leather: The ultimate classic, leather loafers will never go out of style. I love the touch of preppiness they add to a simple sweater and jeans look, but I also frequently reach for them when I want to put a casual, but still polished, spin on one of my favorite dresses. You can’t go wrong with a pair in a traditional buttery chestnut shade, or opt for your favorite fall accent color, like burgundy, blush, or navy.
Suede: My blush suede Mansur Gavriel loafers are one of my most beloved pairs of shoes–evidenced here, here, and here. Clearly, they are incredibly versatile, and even though I own them in a bolder shade, the suede texture tones down the overall look, compared to shiny leather. Suede loafers are one of my favorite pairs of shoes to wear while traveling, since they slip on and off easily and are comfortable to walk around airports in. They also look effortlessly chic with any travel outfit, whether I’m dressed for an overnight international flight I want to be comfortable on, or for a quick business trip that will have me running straight from the airport to a meeting.
Mule/Backless: I love all of the mule styles that have exploded in popularity over the last year. My everyday style errs on the dressed-up side, and mules pair so perfectly with my favorite dresses that I find myself reaching for them again and again. My blue and white floral Gucci pair has been a particular favorite this summer, but I also have my eye on a few versatile solid options…plus a new floral (that would pair perfectly with the Beatrice dress), and tweed pair (that would look great with the new Cindy dress) for fall!
