When we moved to Charleston, Thomas and I found an abundance of art galleries and studios filled with Charleston artists, whose art would look great in any home. Those we were most drawn to combined unique and abstract variations in color, lines, shapes and light, creating a wonderful personal experience that we hope to incorporate into our home. Below are 10 of our favorite Charleston artists whose ties to this beautiful city are reflected in their artwork and whose pieces would compliment any home looking for a colorful, engaging addition. Have a favorite to add to the list? Let us know!

  1. Teil Duncan – Teil was one of the first Charleston based artists I found and followed. We actually have one of her ‘flower crowned girls’ in our home. I love her use of bright color combinations, brush strokes and abstract imagery.
  2. Lulie Wallace – I’ve been following Lulie’s work for a while and was thrilled when I finally found the perfect place in our office for two of her elegant floral framed silk paintings .
  3. Eileen Power – I admire Eileen’s statement paintings – rich in combinations of bold and light colors.
  4. Way Way Allen – I met Way Way through my friend Chassity and love how she captures the essence of Charleston in her use of soft pastels and contrasting bright hues.
  5. Whitney Stoddard – Whitney uses charcoal and acrylic mediums to create feminine silhouettes in the most simple and elegant way and I love the subtle vintage feel.
  6. Raven Roxanne – Raven’s collections are centered around relationships, life and femininity. I’m especially in love with her colorful ‘Girls With Flowers’ collection.
  7. Kate Mullin Art – Kate’s ability to magnify life in color is incredible. My favorites are her larger than life floral arrangements and, of course, bunny painting.
  8. Blakely Little – Inspired by the Low Country, I love how Blakely’s art also includes soft and vibrant paintings of her travels.
  9. Laura Deems – Laura is an up and coming abstract artist whose work is both captivating and intriguing.
  10. Shannon Wood Art – Shannon’s reflections of Charleston and Low Country waterways, beaches and landscapes are so peaceful and I can just see them blending in so well in so many different spaces.
