The Modern Honolulu‘s unique, upscale vibe is unlike any other hotel or resort we’ve ever stayed at in Hawaii. The hotel features chic decor, a relaxed ambiance, and ideal location. Though the Modern Honolulu is a mere 10-15 minute walk from the business of Waikiki Beach, the hotel doesn’t try to be something it’s not. If you are looking for Luas and other touristy-type attractions, you won’t find them here.

Thomas and I especially enjoyed the stunning pool area, which was surrounded entirely by comfortable, contemporary seating, making it the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner or a cocktail. The pool was even equipped with speakers underwater! Located above, is an adults-only pool.  With it’s shallow depth, it’s the perfect place to stay cool, or take a nap on a floaty or lounge chair.

We enjoyed a delicious variety of food at the many establishments located on the Modern Honolulu’s property. Some of our favorites included decadent waffles with macadamia nuts for breakfast, delicious fish tacos for lunch, and, of course, our entire dinner at Morimoto’s!

During our stay, Thomas and I spent a great deal of time exploring the island of Oahu, and, thanks to the location of our hotel, it was easy to maneuver in and out of Wiakiki, (which saved us a great deal of time). Our room served as the perfect tranquil retreat after our long days spent in the sun.

The Modern Honolulu is a great option for travelers looking for a modern, sophisticated hotel in Honolulu.  If you are planning on staying in the Waikiki area, the Modern Honolulu is a must!
