Second only to my love of dresses is my affinity for skirts. I especially enjoy wearing them in the fall because they’re so easy to mix, match, and layer for a look that is captivating and creative. Much of this is thanks to the sumptuous fabrics that can be challenging to translate to a classic, feminine dress–think leather, suede, and corduroy. In a dress, these textures sometimes feel a little overwhelming when not done extremely tastefully. In a skirt, on the other hand, they can look undeniably elegant and add so much interest and texture, especially paired with a cozy knit for fall.

I won’t hesitate to style some of my summer skirts with sweaters and boots, but I also love fully embracing fall colors and textures, as seen here and here. While I’ve been browsing for a few new skirts to add to my collection this fall, I rounded up 12 of my favorite options in the most irresistible textures for the season from corduroy to suede to blush tweed and leopard-print silk.
