When it comes to shoes, I’m happy to try anything. I have my fair share of neutral staples that go with everything in my closet, favorite styles that I buy in multiple colorways and reach for frequently, and a handful of fun statement shoes that instantly make any outfit extra special. As long as shoes are well-designed, classic, and comfortable, I consider them a good investment (and, let’s be honest, I’ll occasionally sacrifice comfort for the sake of a particularly stunning pair!). After wearing boots out of necessity for a few months, I love the feeling of pulling out my sandals, flats, and mules alongside my favorite dresses each spring. The change of season always inspires to keep an eye out for fresh styles and silhouettes to add to my collection, and this spring has held no shortage of beautiful pairs.
My love for basket bags is no secret, and that affinity extends to shoes in natural materials for many of the same reasons: the neutral color, touch of texture, and ability to work for casual or dressy looks. These sandals would be perfect for beach days as the weather continues to warm up, while I’d love to wear these elegant slingbacks or these slides with dresses. They would look gorgeous paired with one of our ultra-classic styles like Addison or peeking out from under the hem of a spring maxi dress like Makenna.
Another detail I can rarely resist when done well? Bows! I love them so much, we incorporated a bow into our Gal Meets Glam Collection logo and bows quickly became a signature detail of our designs. Many of this spring’s shoe styles, like these Alexandre Birman wedges in the prettiest shade of blue, these Tabitha Simmons slingbacks, and these floral J.Crew mules feature bows that would add a feminine touch to any look.
If I’m asked my number one spring shoe recommendation though, my answer is, hands down, a pair of Castaner espadrille wedges. I wear them multiple times per week and love the way they complement such a wide variety of outfits—you’ve probably seen them countless times on the blog and in my Daily Looks. I’ve accumulated pairs in practically every color over the years since I get so much use out of them. This spring, I couldn’t resist their new pointed-toe silhouette, and also took advantage of a few new color offerings, like this sunny yellow pair.
