Even though our busy schedule and frequent travels mean we don’t do too much holiday decorating (Christmas is the exception!), I love adding seasonal touches to our decor throughout the year. In spring, that means packing up the thick blankets and cozy accents we’ve had out for winter and replacing them with all things light and fresh—linen and cotton throws, candles in delicate floral scents, and fresh flowers in as many spots as possible. My goal is always to make our indoor and outdoor spaces flow naturally, which is why you’ll find comfortable pillows on our screened-in porch furniture, and, on the flip side, plenty of plants and greenery throughout our house. With the windows or doors open, it really does feel like one open, breezy space, and I’m constantly going back and forth between outside and in on beautiful spring days.
One thing you’ll find throughout our interior and exterior spaces is basket details. My affinity for basket bags in my closet definitely extends to baskets around our home! I’ve accumulated a pretty impressive collection over the years, but I put them all to great use. Inside, we use them for all types of storage; on the porch, we use basket-style planters to bring the same look outside. Even though I keep a few baskets out all year round, spring feels like an especially fitting time to use them—the neutral, natural material complements our decor perfectly, and I love the texture they add to any corner.
Longtime readers may know I have a soft spot for bunnies, so along with baskets, I always keep an eye out for bunny items, especially when I’m traveling. Vintage pieces are often my best (read: not cheesy) finds, but since there are so many bunny items in stores for Easter right now, I was able to find a handful online that I love. The key to using these pieces in an elegant way is subtlety—just one little bunny figurine in a neutral material tucked onto a bookshelf or a table runner printed with a bunny toile, for example. I’ll make an exception for Easter festivities, when floral bunny plates or a bunny-shaped basket look right at home!
