One of the dictionary definitions of elegance is “dignified gracefulness or restrained beauty of style.” To me, that means a look that is sophisticated without trying too hard, polished without being stuffy, and refined without being unattainable. Some of my all-time favorite pieces I’ve designed for Gal Meets Glam Collection have been the ones that make me feel elegant from the moment I slip into them, and the Danielle dress is definitely one of those pieces. I mentioned a few weeks ago in this post that I couldn’t wait to wear it, and thankfully, I didn’t have to wait very long!

I have so many inspiration photos saved of elegant women I admire, like Jacqueline Kennedy, Carolina Herrera, and Grace Kelly, dressed in white button-down shirts. We drew inspiration from those images when designing this timeless style, playing up the crisp shirtdress silhouette with a white cotton fabric that is so comfortable and breathable. I can’t get enough of maxi dresses lately, especially since they’re one of the most comfortable options for my growing bump. When I’m getting dressed up for an evening out or a special event, I love not having to choose between comfort and the feminine, dressed-up style that I always gravitate toward. Maxi dresses never fail to make that perfect balance possible. We have a handful of crisp white classic pieces this season, like our Judith dress back in white (and now available in light blue here), our white cotton Sawyer jumpsuit, our Elisabetta white cotton wrap dress and our white lace Leighton mini shirtdress.

I added a few pops of color to this look with my new DVF sandals, teal geometric Rebecca de Ravenel earrings, and a swipe of my current favorite red-orange lip color, Blood Orange from Bobbi Brown. The bright hues popped against the clean backdrop of the Danielle dress, creating a look that was so much fun to wear on a gorgeous spring evening. For daytime, I’m looking forward to putting a more neutral, classic spin on this style, perhaps with pale beige espadrilles and wicker earrings.
