I mentioned to you guys that we were road tripping to Montana last week. My mom was taking my little brother to college (he’s going to be a freshman at Montana State) and needed some help getting over there. She has a bad shoulder and there are lots of things to be moved when one is leaving home for the first time, so Thomas and I were happy to tag along. We piled into a big Suburban with all of our gear at 5am on Thursday and started our 13 hour drive to Idaho. We decided it was best to drive direct, only stopping for snacks and bathroom breaks, until we reached our family’s ranch near Idaho Falls. There, we stayed the night Thursday and Friday, catching up with both of our grandparents (it’s Thomas’s grandparent’s ranch, but my grandparents were there with them for the week!) and fitting in some fly-fishing and hiking. It was relaxing and perfect.

On Saturday morning, we re-packed and drove the much shorter distance (3 hours) to Bozeman, Montana. Thomas and I were excited for this trip because neither of us had been to Montana. We knew we would be able to fit in some fun shoots while we were there, as the landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. After arriving, we spent our whole Saturday getting my little brother settled into his dorm, making lots of Target trips and getting glimpses of Bozeman as we made our way around. It really is a beautiful city, although we didn’t get to explore enough of it because Thomas and I jetted off to check out the amazing Paws Up about 3 hours Northwest (near Missoula) the following morning. I’d had Paws Up saved on my “Must-Go-To Hotels” list since my girlfriend Jessica told me about it last year. We actually wanted to go for my birthday, but ended up booking Dunton Hot Springs instead (another fantastic getaway spot!).

Thomas and I booked it super last minute and luckily, the hotel had one of their luxury tents available for one night, which was perfect because that was about all the time we had. We decided to drive up early, so we would arrive just before lunch and be able to fit in a few activities during the day. That’s one of the reasons why this resort is so special, they have an insane list of activities ranging from horseback riding, fly-fishing, ATV tours, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, paintball, rafting, rappelling, wagon rides, skeet shooting, helicopter rides over Glacier National Park, archery, go-karts, geocaching and so much more. The resort is a total of 37,000 acres! We’ve been trying to convince our family to take a trip up because it would be so fun with a big group of people.

Even though it was just the two of us on this trip, we had so much fun! We got in just before noon and made our way over to the Wilderness Center where you plan out the activities you want to do. We were a bit limited since we didn’t plan anything in advance and only had 24 hours, but we were able to get in a sunset horseback ride, a hike and a picnic down by the river. Their staff was wonderful in getting everything set-up, putting together a huge basket full of delicious foods and wine to bring out to the river. And I finally had my appetite back after getting the stomach flu (not fun) while we were in Idaho. It was warm and peaceful and we were the only ones out there!

I packed a bunch of older pieces for this trip including this off the shoulder white eyelet top I last wore on the blog here. I actually found an almost identical version here that’s under $50. I paired it with my favoirte AG denim skirt I got last year before our trip to Peru and my new studded Coach bag that I’m seriously obsessed with. I love their saddle bags and this mini one is the perfect size. It also comes in a variety of colors like this camel suede, red, black and navy.
