It’s been a while since I wore a little black dress, or added new summer black styles to my summer wardrobe. I’ve been so drawn to light pastels and vibrant summer colors that I hadn’t considered adding black pieces to the mix. Which left me thinking, why? After all, black is a classic, versatile, go-to shade. I decided to find ways to incorporate more black into my summer wardrobe this season, selecting summer black styles with light-weight fabrics, open cuts and a loose fit to keep me cool in the hot summer months ahead. Black is now one of my color themes for selecting interchangeable wardrobe pieces: a straw tote with grosgrain black ribbon, a lace midi dress, a scalloped tank, crop flared pants, an off-the-shoulder jumpsuit, a striped fit and flare or ribbon-detailed dress, an espadrille or suede wedge, a lace-up sandal, an off-the-shoulder or floral midi, a simple one-piece, and a cropped top and skirt set.
