It’s the middle of fall and we’ve already experienced our fair share of autumn activities. New England was incredible with wonderful colors, crisp weather and delicious flavors (pumpkin risotto and fresh apple cider were a few of the highlights). Naturally, we have set our sights on Winter time with dreams of winter wonderlands, covered in snow. I’m always being asked “What’s next on your list?”. So I thought it would be fun to share a few areas of the world that we have marked for future travels.
Iceland- This place has been on our dream list for years and we’ve been planning to go during summertime but after some research we’ve discovered that during winter, Iceland doesn’t get any colder than NYC. Think winter activities like dog sledding, playing in snow and relaxing in geothermal pools. Ion looks pretty incredible as does the Silica Hotel at the Blue Lagoon.
Rocky Mountains- Last year we went to Dunton Hot Springs (seen here on the blog) in Colorado and it was magical. We arrived on the first snowy day of the year, blanketing the entire property. The 4 nights flew by and we have dreams of returning in the future. While we haven’t skied in years, we’d love to hit the slopes of Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Montana or Wyoming. I’d love to head back to Paws Up in Montana or visit Amangani in Wyoming.
Alps- When I envision the perfect winter town, real or not, I start to picture quaint mountain villages in the French, Swiss and German Alps. It also doesn’t hurt that there are some magnificent hotels and places to stay and cozy up away when you’re not on the slopes. In Switzerland, Gstaad Palace, Hotel Villa Honegg & The Chedi Andermatt look like the most dreamy places to getaway during the holidays.
