Gal Meets Glam Dress (available in red here), Cesta Collective Bag
The Fourth of July is just a few weeks away! Even though we tend to keep our Fourth of July plans low-key, it always ends up being one of my favorite days of the summer. We’re often on the road this time of year, so we’ve experienced the Fourth in all different states and all different settings. It has been such a meaningful way to appreciate the beauty and diversity of our country. This year, we’re staying close to home since my no-fly zone will have started, and we’re looking forward to a relaxing long weekend!
Even if our plans don’t go further than our neighbor’s pool, I always dress up in my favorite red, white, and blue for the day. It doesn’t hurt that it is one of my favorite summer color palettes to begin with, so I always have plenty of options to choose from. My Fourth of July outfit strategy has always been to stick to the classics, opting for pieces I already own and mixing and matching them to create a festive look. When in doubt, wear something in crisp white, add a red lip, and be on your way! This year, I especially love the idea of infusing your Fourth of July look with feminine patterns, namely florals and stripes, inspired by our latest Gal Meets Glam Collection launch.
My first choice is the Martha dress—a one-shoulder style in red, white, and blue seersucker that we designed with this exact holiday in mind. The color palette looks subtle, but festive, and the breezy seersucker is the perfect weight for a hot July day. If I wasn’t pregnant, I might wear the June two-piece set, the most darling top and shorts pairing in crisp linen, featuring a red and blue pattern that includes both stripes and florals. Its dressed-up counterpart, the Teresa wrap dress, is another appropriate option since it has the same beautiful pattern.
Are your plans on the casual side? If you’ll be spending the day on the water, opt for this festive and flattering swimsuit like this one by Marysia. If you’re spending the day lounging at home, stay cozy in my favorite striped Lake Pajamas, and then change into a classic striped sweater and shorts to watch the fireworks. For any outfit, consider slipping into the new red or blue versions of my go-to espadrilles, featuring cheery gingham ties, to complete your Fourth of July look!
Gal Meets Glam Collection Martha Dress
Literally made for the Fourth of July, I can’t wait to wear our new Martha dress from the June Collection. We opted for seersucker fabric to make this style as lightweight and comfortable as it is elegant.
Marysia Maillot
For a red, white, and blue swimsuit that will look just as lovely all throughout the summer, opt for this scalloped maillot, which pairs red gingham and navy in the chicest way.
Navy and White Striped Sweater
Even in Charleston, I’ll often grab a cotton sweater like this one for evenings under the stars. These classic navy stripes look festive and sweet for a casual July 4th evening.
