The word of this month seems to be transitions. It’ll be the end of summer before we know it. We’ll be settling back home just as the new school year begins. We’ve also been transitioning how we delegate — working on moving more off of both mine and Thomas’s plates, while taking on bigger-picture projects and long-term goals. We’re growing both our team and our household to support that shift and to make space for more. I’m excited to return to the rhythms of our “normal” routine by mid-August. In the meantime, here’s a peek at what’s going on:
What We’re Doing
- Kicking off the month with a visit to our family’s ranch in Idaho — slower days outdoors, cousin time, and a nice break.
- Heading from Idaho to California, with stops throughout the state — including the girls’ first visit to San Francisco, time in San Diego with friends, a stop at Legoland, and a visit with my grandma.
- Ending the trip in Hawaii for a family wedding. Clementine is thrilled — she’s in her peak Stitch era, and Hawaii is everything to her right now.
- Celebrating Clementine’s sixth birthday this month. I always get emotional around her birthday — maybe because she’s our first, or maybe because it’s just one of those milestones that quietly catches up with you. I truly can’t believe she’s going to be six.
- Hosting a big shoot at our house at the end of the month for a collaboration launching early fall.
- Kicking off marketing and photoshoots for another collaboration launching later this year. So much work behind the scenes is starting to take shape.
- We watched the new Apple TV show Stick (with Owen Wilson) and absolutely loved it — such a feel-good series. It reminded me a little of Ted Lasso in the best way.
What I’m Wearing
- These denim shorts are wildly overpriced — I know — but truly the best fit and fabric I’ve ever worn. If you’re looking for one perfect pair, they’re worth a try.
- This “Closed For August” hat made me laugh — and also made it into my suitcase.
- Kashura wrap flats — discovered in Greece, and now on heavy rotation. They’re finally available online in several colors.
- Floral Gucci pants I wore in Harbour Island are packed again for California and Hawaii — bold and lightweight, my kind of combo.
- A few pre-fall pieces coming with me to San Francisco:
Pink Bottega jacket — it sold out quickly, but a few sizes are left
Chan Luu pants — these are so chic and well priced
Larroude sneakers — sneakers for the city are a must - These jeans from last year were just restocked — highly recommend.
- This chocolate brown tank is the ideal transitional layer — it works with everything.
- Sherman Field’s new fine silver collection is beautiful — I’ve been wearing the silk black cord with this medallion.
What I’m Buying
- I bought my first Savette bag in 2022 and have been a fan ever since — clean lines, no logos. I’ve used the Symmetry style constantly and just added the Slim Symmetry in “Tangerine” to my rotation.
- A trench coat is at the top of my fall list. This Co version checks every box, but I also love this option from La Ligne.
- Bought the girls these floral corduroy pants for fall — and somehow, my dress-loving duo approved.
- This Mosquito Studio necklace — so simple but makes a statement.
- I was introduced to Heirlome through Arielle Ratner and loved the dramatic proportions of this top and skirt.
- This mother of pearl shell dish — for holding jewelry or just sitting on a shelf.
- A new Elder Statesman cardigan to soften the transition into fall.
- Decorative tassels to tie onto bags — a low-commitment way to play into the trend.
What I’m Eyeing
- I’m having a full Valentino moment. The prints, color, and layered textures — everything about the brand feels exciting again. Alessandro Michele’s collections have had me hooked. I felt the same way when he was at Gucci from 2015–2022. He’s a true creative force.
Here are some pieces that are works of art:
• This new embroidered jacket that I want to frame, it’s so beautiful.
• This blue & white floral jacket with tassels- swoon! (the dress version here)
• A similar version in silk, that’s just as beautiful.
• This jacket that’s on sale *warning* it’s still $$$
• This silk foulard scarf - I have a handful of Sophie Buhai pieces in my cart that I haven’t pulled the trigger on yet (price…), but I keep coming back to:
Tassel comb
Shell hand mirror
Vienna Cuff - This Murano glass perfume bottle — do I need it? No. Do I want it? Absolutely.
- The playful world of Tigra Tigra — worth exploring if you haven’t already. I love this pink polka dot skirt (in stock here), these gorgeous silk pants, and this dress.
- I’ve been bookmarking sterling silver shell pieces of every kind lately:
Vide-poches
Tea spoons
Georgian ladle
Butter shells
Berry server Irish shell dishes
Tiffany tea caddy spoon - Adding this Retrouvaí cuff to my dream jewelry list — it’s incredible.
- The new chocolate brown Ginori colorway — rich, moody, and timeless.
