Gal Meets Glam Collection Dress (two piece version here), Carrie Forbes Sandals, Tote (similar here and here)
We design each month’s Gal Meets Glam Collection styles an entire year in advance, so it’s serendipitous that every collection this spring has included at least one easy maxi dress (like the Jasmine and Courtney). These have been the biggest staples of my pregnancy wardrobe, but best of all, I know I’ll continue wearing them long after Baby B makes her arrival in August. The long skirts and elegant details make maxi dresses some of the most undeniably feminine pieces in my closet, and I love the way that wearing one instantly elevates any day. With the arrival of our June Collection last week, I’ve added another one of those pieces into my wardrobe with our Lula cotton maxi.
I packed a handful of new June styles in my suitcase for our babymoon (you may have spotted a few sneak peeks on my Instagram Stories!) and wore the Lula maxi for a day we spent exploring the town of Valldemosa. This was our first trip ever that was more focused on relaxing by the pool than seeing as much of our destination as we possibly could, but we couldn’t resist at least one leisurely day of wandering the charming cobblestone streets of the nearby village. Since it wasn’t too far from our hotel, we popped over one afternoon to do a little shopping and explore (and I picked up a little souvenir for the baby). Along with the summery toile and soft blue hue of Lula, my favorite thing about it is its versatility since it’s a more relaxed maxi style and made from the softest cotton (it also comes in this two piece version). I put a casual spin on this dress with raffia slides and a roomy woven tote (similar here and here), fit for lots of walking and shopping, but you can see it dressed up for an elegant evening in the pictures from our e-commerce photo shoot.
When done well, a toile print is one of my favorite prints for both fashion and home decor. It has such a classic, nostalgic vibe, and for good reason—toile prints have been around since the 1700s. Our modern version features a hand-drawn navy cottage print on a slate blue backdrop that feels so fresh and pretty for summer. I love it so much, we used the same toile fabric to create our Matilda two-piece set! The Matilda’s button-down silhouette and collared top give it a more tailored look, while the Lula is more romantic, but the toile perfectly complements both styles.
