All The Leopard Print Pieces I’m Loving

Outfit Details:

Rebecca Taylor Dress (more sizes here), Loeffler Randall SandalsUlla Johnson Bag

Leopard print has long played a crucial role in my wardrobe, first through small touches in the form of shoes and bags, and later, in a bigger way through coats and dresses as well. Whether it serves as the perfect finishing touch to a classic outfit or makes a statement on its own, leopard pieces have the uncanny ability to make any outfit feel put-together and intentional. Thanks to its neutral palette, it’s incredibly easy to wear on its own or pair with your favorite basics–a pop of leopard complements any color, as well as many textures (I love it with denim, cashmere, lace, or leather, to name a few).

I couldn’t resist the perfect midi length and comfortable cut of this Rebecca Taylor dress, and happily put it on to enjoy one of the warm, sunny days we’ve experienced in Charleston lately! The breezy silhouette and sweet details (like the bows on the straps and the ruffle around the waistline) nod to spring, but since the print is on the darker side, I didn’t feel like I was skipping ahead to spring too quickly. I wear leopard pieces year-round, but definitely gravitate toward them most during the colder months, when I’m more likely to choose warm, cozy neutrals. You can find a few of my recent Daily Looks that incorporate leopard print here, here, here, and here. As you can see, I wear my leopard Margaux loafers often, and I think these Loeffler Randall slides may be my springtime alternative. If you’re wary of adding leopard print to your wardrobe, start with shoes! You’ll be surprised how often you reach for them.

A quick tip for choosing leopard pieces: the smaller the scale of the print, the more subtle the overall look will be. I often prefer small-scale leopard print on large pieces like dresses, tops, and pants, and larger-scale prints on small items like shoes, handbags, and scarves. The one exception is coats; a leopard coat will always make a statement, so I embrace the bold look they create with a medium or large-scale leopard. Both of the pieces I’m wearing here feature rather delicate versions of the print, so I didn’t hesitate to pair them together for a look that transitioned easily from daytime to date night.
