Red Valentino Dress, Madewell Sweater (old, last seen here and similar here), Hunter Boots

This is the start of my favorite time of year, when all of the winter gloom starts to fade away, both figuratively and literally. The days are getting longer, the sun is warmer, the sky bluer, the flowers bigger and the clothes cuter. Even though we’ve been hiding from the rain every other day, it sure has made our nearby landscapes and parks the brightest shades of green. This past Saturday T and I went hiking in Mount Tamaplais and I couldn’t believe how gorgeous it was. The trail was lined with bright poppies while the fog hovered over the treetops, looking like the setting for an eery movie. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time welcoming the official first day of Spring.

Like in this post, I’ve been making all of my spring looks work for rain by just wearing my Hunter boots with everything. I’ve always worn them with shorts and jeans but I think they look just as cute with a dress. We knew it was going to be rainy on our first day in Santa Barbara, so luckily I had packed my hunter green Tours (which are great for travel because they’re lighter and more flexible to fold).

Red Valentino continues to lure me in season after season. There is always one or two dresses within each collection that sits in my cart until I see the “last one, buy now” that convinces me to pull the trigger. I bought this one a few months ago and have worn out in Napa with a denim jacket and my pink Chanel ballet flats as well as in the city under my Burberry trench. Its light pink faille fabric is covered in daisies, cherries and bees and makes me happy every I see it. A few other favorites this season include this white scalloped trim one, this daisy crochet dress, this striped one and this antique rose colored one.
