If ever I need a midday break to get outside, one of my favorite places to go is the San Francisco Botanical Garden. It’s a pretty big property, around 50 acres, so you can make multiple trips without having seen the same things.Ā We made a visit a few weeks ago when we heard that the magnolias were blooming and again this past week with even more plants and flowers opening up. I find it so incredibly peaceful- no sound except the wind in the trees and the birds chirping. If you’re looking for a quiet spot to spend the afternoon, this is it (and SF residents get in free!).

There was a warm breeze on this afternoon, so I slipped into this pink checked dress that I was initially saving for Spring. I never thought I would be pulling it out this early in the season, but the weather called for it! It has a vintage vibe to it that I love with the fit and flare style, but the light pink and white print is what sold me. It’s also under $140 along withĀ this similar navy one at the same price point. I wore it with my Ferragamo Vara flats in a great neutral color and my pink Miu Miu bag I bought on our honeymoon in Italy.

Most of the pink magnolias that we had seen a few weeks ago were gone by our second trip, but in their place were huge white magnolias that were just as stunning and fragrant and glowed in the afternoon light. We’re also planning on heading back on another beautiful day with a picnic and big blanket in hand to spend a little bit longer, with a good book and good friends.
