I’ve mentioned it before, but Thomas and I are making an effort to get out and explore more of the beautiful landscapes around San Francisco. Thomas went out and shot with a friend in Point Reyes a few months ago and came back raving about how gorgeous it was. So last week we headed out on what could not have been a more perfect day. Point Reyes is known for being one of the windiest places on the West Coast, but somehow we got lucky with a completely clear sky, still winds and about ten Gray Whales sightings (this time of year they migrate to Baja, Mexico to have their babies)! It was a pretty awesome afternoon.

The drive alone to Point Reyes is stunning and so lush right now thanks to the rain we’ve had. We first stopped at the Point Reyes Lighthouse and quickly made our way over since the stairs to the actual Lighthouse close at 4:30pm and they are only open Friday through Monday. On the steep walk down is when we started to see all of the whales out in the distance- it was such a magical sight!

If I could describe my ideal weather, it would be sunny and 70F with a slight breeze, which is exactly what this day was. We’re usually bundling up in layers when we leave to shoot outside of SF, but this time we were both warm in simple tops and jeans. I wore this marigold yellow blouse from Old Navy with a great pair of denim skinny jeans that fit like a glove. This is one of my favorite colors right now (especially when paired with navy) and I love the flutter sleeve and loose fit, which is a great contrast to the skinny jeans. Over the years, Old Navy has become one of my favorite shops for denim since they fit my shape so nicely. I’m wearing the new Rockstar Built-In Sculpt jeans that are so flattering and comfortable to wear regardless of what activities we might be doing- hiking, hanging out in the city, traveling, etc.

It wasn’t long before the sun started to set, so we drove the short distance to North Beach. As the day came to an end, the sky glowed in pink and purple hues as the waves crashed and mist formed over the water.
