This past June, Thomas and I had the pleasure of staying in one of Rome, Italy’s finest boutique hotels, the exquisite, Portrait Roma, a property of the Lungarno Collection, which is owned by the well known Ferragamo family. Since we enjoyed our previous stays at two other Lungarno Collection hotels in Florence, Italy (Gallery Hotel Art and Portrait Firenze), we immediately chose Portrait Roma for our one night stay in Rome. The beauty of staying in a Lungarno Collection hotel is that each property has uniquely distinct characteristics.

One of Portrait Roma’s best features is location. Situated right next to the Spanish Steps in the heart of Via Condotti, and right above one of the Ferragamo stores, the hotel is just a short walk away from designer shops and darling cafes.  Another excellent feature is the hotel’s lifestyle team, which includes a personal guest assistant, dedicated to handling any request. They even offered to drive us around in the hotel golf carts!

Our room at Portrait Roma exuded modern, relaxed elegance with fresh flowers daily, and high tech features, such as an iPad containing information on restaurants, tours of Rome, and best places to visit and eat (my favorite was the Gelato hot spots!). We even had a sauna in our room which came in handy after a long day walking around Rome neighborhoods.  Sketches and other art work dedicated to the exquisite style of Salvatore Ferragamo adorned the walls of our room and hallways through out the hotel.

Thomas and I enjoyed the beautiful rooftop patio of Portrait Roma for breakfast in the morning. We had plans of also enjoying cocktails in the evening, sitting by the cozy outdoor fireplace while taking in the breathtaking views of the Spanish Steps below, but it just happened to rain the one night we were there.

Portrait Roma is a quaint, upscale hotel devoted to hospitality and elegant comfort! Thomas and I highly recommend staying at Portrait Roma if you are planning  a visit to Rome.
