By the middle of August, I start to tire of my summer wardrobe and find myself eager to wear the new fall styles that are arriving at all of my favorite retailers. We’re also reviewing all of the photos from our fall Gal Meets Glam Collection shoots in the office lately, and I can hardly wait to debut our new pieces (you heard it here first…sweater dresses are coming!). All that said, temperatures in Charleston are still in the 80s and 90s, so my turtlenecks and coats have awhile to wait. We intentionally made our August GMGC launch a “summer-to-fall” collection, so it’s full of pieces that are easy to wear now while it’s still hot out, as well as transition into fall. To stay cool and comfortable while also indulging in a taste of the coming season, I’m loving flowy and feminine pieces like our new Tegan dress and this floral top from Anthropologie. When it finally gets chilly at night, I throw on a light sweater, like a crewneck or cardigan.

The first things I pack away for the summer are my sandals, since it’s easy and still comfortable to opt for fall-ready flats instead. I love this updated version of my longtime favorite scalloped Chloe flats in a luxe suede, which couldn’t be more fitting for the new season. Loafers have become one of my go-to fall shoes over the last few years, and I’m currently eyeing this neutral Alexandre Birman pair with the sweetest bow detail.

Overall, the easiest way I transition my wardrobe from summer to fall is through the color palette. I begin to introduce warmer colors like tans and browns, plus some cooler olives and navys. I wear my personal neutrals, like blush pink and creamy white, year-round, but even these “spring” shades take on a fall feel when paired with heavier textures and richer accent colors.

Everlane Slingback Flats

Slingbacks are a great piece to help transition to colder temperatures; they have the same closed-toe look as a flat, but with a bit of your heel showing to keep cooler in warm temperatures. I love these suede slingbacks from Everlane, which come in a variety of colors.

Gal Meets Glam Collection Kierra Jumpsuit

The Kierra is one of my favorite pieces from our August collection. The cotton fabric makes it the ideal choice for this time of year, and the slim silhouette (with the prettiest ruffle detail at the shoulders) makes it easy to pair with flats or block heels.

ba&sh Belt

I’ve been seeing tons of belts for fall and was instantly drawn to this brown suede style from ba&sh. Pair it with some of your summer pieces to give them a more fall-inspired feel (like I did with a different belt over our Danielle dress here).
