Ever since we moved to Charleston (nearly two years ago!), I’ve been learning to embrace fabrics that work for our hot, balmy summers. Breathable cotton, crisp seersucker, and lightweight chambray are musts, but my personal favorite material for summer is linen. I love everything about it, from the effortless look, to the way it keeps me cool on humid days, to the subtle texture that adds a touch of interest to even the simplest pieces.
Choosing what to wear in the morning is truly a sensory experience–slipping into a dreamy fabric sets the whole day off on the right foot. I have been thinking about that so much as I’ve designed each dress in the Gal Meets Glam Collection! It has inspired me to pay extra close attention to the way the clothes in my closet feel as I put them on, how they move as I walk (or twirl!), and how the textures affect my mood in different situations throughout the day. The linen pieces in my closet are always winners, so it’s no surprise that I’ve been reaching for them and styling them in different ways again and again throughout this summer, especially most recently in Italy. You can see a few recent linen looks here, here , and here, along with some pieces I wore in both Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast in this post.
