Design Lilse McKenna, Schumacher Fabrics, Iksel Decorative Arts Wallpaper, Patterson Flynn Rug, Emporio Sirenuse Dress
We recently completed the finishing touches on our front sitting/dining room designed by Lilse McKenna. It has become my favorite room in our house and brings me so much joy. The Iksel wallpaper, Eastern Eden in yellow, created a dramatic backdrop that transformed the space from our previous white shiplap. It really sets the tone for the room, romantic and modern, colorful and moody, all mixed together. All the fabrics we used are Schumacher and Lilse did such a fantastic job blending colors, patterns and textures to make the room feel layered and unique. When we chose the wallpaper, I knew I wanted a marigold yellow velvet couch, and it’s my favorite piece in the whole room. This couch has had a few lives, first pink, then brown, and now yellow…and it’s by far my favorite one yet. The dining chairs that Lilse wrapped in green velvet and backed with the coolest woven multicolored fabric are another favorite stand-out piece. We layered a Patterson Flynn brown woven rug over our sisal one to separate the sitting room portion from the dining. Take a peek below to see all the new layers in our room.Â
