Packing For A Country Escape

Going on a country escape is something we look forward to doing at least once a year. From short weekends in the North Carolina mountains, to visits with my sister and brother-in-law in Ireland, spending time outdoors in the fresh air, surrounded by nature, wildflowers, meadows, and forests is one of our favorite types of adventures. Naturally we include long walks and hikes, always the very best way to view the scenery, and will often bring a picnic lunch, or stop at an outdoor or open-air eatery for breakfast or lunch. There is always so much to do and see, and we never tire of touring the parks and waterways along the way, and maybe even a castle or two (or remnants of one)! I’ve gathered a collection of pieces to pack for your next country escape, inspired by the natural beauty of the outdoors.

Shrunken Wool Cardigan

This herringbone wool cardigan is perfect for exploring the countryside. Layer it under a down coat for extra warmth and a pair of water resistant boots.

Canvas Tote Bag

Carry your farmer’s market finds in this canvas tote bag and slip on these suede booties and a cozy sweater for an easy, relaxing day.

Shawl Knit Wrap Jacket

I love the understated elegance of this knit wrap jacket paired with a sweater and cozy high top sneakers.
