Connecting with readers has always been one of my favorite parts of my job. It should come as no surprise, then, that one of my favorite things about running Gal Meets Glam Collection is the opportunity to connect with even more women all over the world! I love getting a peek into the lives of the women who wear our pieces, especially when I learn about what they do, what they’re passionate about, and what inspires them. Our choice for our October Gal(s!) on the Go was unanimous—we couldn’t wait to sit down with Alexa Buckley and Sarah Pierson, the founders of Margaux. We launched an exclusive collaboration between Margaux and Gal Meets Glam Collection earlier this week, combining Margaux’s classic, fit-focused designs with Gal Meets Glam Collection’s love for all things feminine and timeless into four limited-edition shoe styles. I love Margaux shoes because they blend comfort and style perfectly and I’m so honored to have worked with Alexa and Sarah on this collection! Read on to learn more about these inspiring businesswomen and to see how they styled their head-to-toe Gal Meets Glam Collection looks.

Tell us a little about your inspiration to start Margaux. What is the overriding mission of the company?

Alexa: Sarah and I serendipitously met at a cab stand at the very beginning of our freshman year at Harvard, and we were friends at first sight. We became roommates the following year and lived together for the rest of our college careers. It wasn’t until our senior year, however, that we began dreaming up our vision for Margaux. At its core, Margaux was born out of the realization that women face the all-too-frequent choice between footwear that’s stylish and footwear that’s comfortable. We’d witnessed the shoe-shuffle first-hand during short stints in the corporate world and knew there had to be a better way. We believed there was an opportunity to rethink the engineering of women’s footwear and—by combining form and function through smart design—to create shoes that were as beautiful as they were comfortable, redefining the luxury footwear category along the way.

What is your favorite part about working together?

Sarah: Our partnership, hands down. We were best friends when we first dreamed up Margaux five years ago and have only become closer with time. With our work, you experience incredible highs and lows—sometimes within the same day or hour. I couldn’t imagine being on this adventure without a partner like Alexa. While we’re very different—sometimes laughably so—we have the most important things in common: values, mutual love and respect, and our shared vision for what Margaux will become.

What is your go-to shoe style from the #GMGxMargaux collection and why?

Alexa: My favorite style from this collection is the Loafer. The pink velvet packs the perfect punch of fun, while still being totally wearable all day (and season!) long.
Sarah: I’ve been wearing our Pointe in Gal Meets Glam Collection’s pink tweed for days on the go—it’s the perfect, polished complement to denim. As we head into cooler weather, I’ll be reaching for our Boot. The navy suede is a wear-with-everything neutral and the silhouette pairs so well with midi-length skirts and dresses.

If you could live a day in someone else’s shoes, who would you choose to be? Where would you go?

Sarah: For years, Alexa and I have looked to Phoebe Philo’s collections for Celine as the pinnacle of chic. To embody her intrinsic sense of style and understand how she approached design? That would be a dream.
Alexa: Right now, I would love to spend a day in Serena Williams’ shoes. She has shattered ceilings and, in doing so, set an example for both male and female athletes about what can be achieved with relentless work, commitment, and determination.

Where are your Gal Meets Glam Collection styles taking you today?

Alexa: My Roberta dress is taking me everywhere this fall. From a long day of work straight to dinner and beyond, it works for just about any occasion. I love that the silhouette is both wearable and elegant…and it fits beautifully!
Sarah: The office is buzzing with excitement for the GMGxMargaux launch, so I’m wearing my Jessie dress for a day of running around Chelsea for investor calls and product development meetings. I love this piece for the same reasons Margaux and Gal Meets Glam Collection make a great pair: the pieces are comfortable for all-day wear, the quality is impeccable, and the silhouettes are confidently feminine.
