Mulberry Bag

Along with trading my summer dresses for fall styles and my sandals for flats, another swap I make every September is my handbags. I pack away most of the straw basket bags I reach for almost daily in the spring and summer and replace them with my favorite leather handbags. Much like other elements of my wardrobe, I’m always inspired by vintage shapes and styles, so many of my leather bags have a very timeless feel. With a few simple steps taken to clean and store them carefully each spring, the leather only grows lovelier with age. I know these are pieces I’ll have for years–and hopefully even decades–to come. I’ve found so many exquisite new bags for fall lately that strike just the right balance between unique and classic, any of which would fit right into my collection.

Nothing marks a change in season quite as vividly as the new colors and textures that each one inspires. From camel bags that will never go out of style, to some of my favorite seasonal hues, I love seeing handbag designers bring so many colors to life in their fall collections. I’m especially inspired by burgundy and olive green right now, so this Staud bucket bag and this Mansur Gavriel top-handle bag immediately caught my attention. For unique twists on texture, this wool and leather Salvatore Ferragamo bag would make a gorgeous choice during the week, while I’d love to carry this straw and leather bag from Cesta Collective for a weekend afternoon downtown

This year, many geometric shapes have been catching my eye as well, from this Gucci top-handle box bag to this cube bag from Le Volon. Especially paired with a flowy dress or skirt or drapey sweater, a geometric bag adds just the right amount of structure to balance an outfit. Pair one with our Tegan, Cecelia, or Kayla dress for an effortlessly polished fall look.

Mini Bag

This vintage-inspired Neely and Chloe bag has been a favorite around our office lately. We brought the navy option to one of our most recent fall Gal Meets Glam Collection shoots and had to hold back from pairing it with every dress!

Calf Hair Crossbody

I have this Oscar de la Renta crossbody bag in a pink floral print (last seen here) and am enchanted by the new green calf hair version. Deep green is one of my favorite fall and winter shades and the gardenia detail looks elegant in any season.
