I’ve been talking about color a lot lately. Probably because we’re currently designing our spring 2020 GMG Collection pieces (what I was doing all last week), but also because it’s the one thing that inspires me most. A single color can open the doors to a world of ideas, leading to new prints, shapes, and feelings. Each of our monthly collections is usually inspired by a color, and if not a color, then a destination or an idea that is usually tied to a palette.
I’ve been loving brighter hues lately. After a trip to Miami and with Spain on the brain (babymoon in less than two weeks!), all of the pieces that I’ve been drawn to are slightly more vibrant than the pastels that I will always love. Our GMG May Collection arrives tomorrow (!!!) and you’ll see a lot more of this, too! We have a vibrant poppy red, cheerful yellow, and more coming your way.
While I was in Miami for my sister’s bachelorette party a few weekends back, I wore this crinkled chiffon dress by Zimmermann for a night out. I fell in love with the 70s floral print and happy color palette, plus the shape is ideal for maternity. I styled it with my favorite orange-red lipstick and brought out some more bright red hues with these wedges. Afterwards, I pulled it back out in Charleston and decided to play up the yellow. I first added one of our new GMG Collection cardigans in a sunshine yellow and my Castaner espadrilles. Same dress, but the different play on colors makes it feel like a new look!
These colors together feel like happiness to me—my baby shower even had a similar citrus palette—and as long as it’s bringing me joy, I’ll keep gravitating towards it!
