If you follow us on Instagram and IG Stories you might have seen the pictures I posted of the latest feature on our front porch. We spent all of Saturday, digging up shrubs and bushes in our front yard to make way for our raised beds for a vegetable garden and another special project for along the side of our front porch. Ideally, we would have loved to plant these sun loving plants in our backyard but thanks to some old trees, we have lots of shade back there. Later in the afternoon, we created this cheerful spring look using a vintage plant stand we bought last year. On our most recent trip to Abide a While (our favorite garden and gift shop in the Charleston area) I was inspired by these Italian terracotta pots they just got in and their beautiful ranunculus which reminded me of spring. Additionally, in smaller pots we planted smaller daffodils and sweet alyssum which complemented the ranunculus. We finished by adding some white hydrangeas in the bigger pots to take up space and to emphasize the colors.

We purchased this blue and white vintage plant stand last May during a trip to Petersham Nurseries in London. We spent the most magical day there but we went a little overboard with a shopping spree of too many items that we definitely didn’t have room for in our suitcases. After duty, hiring a customs agent, and international freight shipping, our “bargain” purchase became a costly acquisition. The initial shipping estimate was so high, we actually asked the store if we could return the items but had no luck with that. Needless to say, the whole process makes it even more beautiful in our eyes and we knew the exact spot we wanted to place it outside, we just needed the right project.

In Charleston, we got a head start on spring, if you are looking to do the same take a look through the list we assembled, which was inspired by items on our front porch.
