Last month Thomas and I finally visited Maine for the first time. After we drove out to Rhode Island for the weekend from NYC, we made our way north towards Kennebunkport, Maine. We’ve had this place on our travel list for a while and once we realized it was only a few hours from RI, we added it to our long weekend. It’s been really fun exploring more of the East Coast since we moved this way over two years ago. It’s particularly special this time of year, as I truly believe there is no better place than New England to experience the fall season. Quaint towns full of charm and character, every shade of autumn you can imagine and lots of orchards filled with flavors of the season. We stayed at the rustic getaway, Hidden Pond, which I’ll be sharing more of later. It was a short but sweet trip, and one that I would highly recommend! Kennebunkport, while very cold in the winter, looks absolutely magical during the holiday season. I’m trying to convince Thomas to bundle back up come December so we can go back when there’s snow!

Khaite Coat (similar less expensive here and here), J.Crew Sweater, Everlane Jeans, Sezane Boots, Red Scarf (similar here), Polene Bag
By the time we got in on our first day at 7pm, it was pitch black outside and we decided to have an early night, eating at the hotel’s restaurant (which came highly recommended), Earth. The next morning we woke up early, refreshed from a good night’s sleep, and drove into the town of Kennebunkport for some coffee and snacks while we explored the area before the hustle and bustle of the day. We stopped by Dock Square Coffee House for some hot lattes and then made our way over to Moon Rose Cafe for bagels.
The following day we explored the nearby coastal village of Cape Porpoise, located within the town of Kennebunkport. This picturesque village is exactly what I envisioned when dreaming of visiting Maine- fishing boats and lobster signs, shingle houses and fall colored reflections on the water. We stopped by Cape Pier Chowder House, which was sits quietly along the water, for some clam chowder (for Thomas) and fish and chips (for me).

The rest of our days were spent driving around the local areas, checking out the towns that were filled with beautiful shops with lots of special souvenirs and home goods. I particularly loved Daytrip Society located in Kennebunkport and Farm + Table in Cape Porpoise. Don’t miss either if you’re in the area!
