Now that October is here, it feels like we can fully embrace the fall season and start dressing the part, too. The leaves are slowing starting to change, along with the weather, and I’m seeing more layers appear on the streets daily. While we were in London, we had our first taste of autumn weather and I brought some of my favorite coats from past years to wear. It was also the perfect time to bring along some of the new Gal Meets Glam Collection dresses and intro them into a brand new season. Often times, this transition of seasons makes people switch from dresses and skirts to pants and jeans every day. I get it. Once it starts to cool down, dressing becomes all about wanting to stay warm and comfortable. But I’m here to say that dressing into cool weather with a dress is just as, if not more, easy and effortless. I just rely on a few accessories and styling tips…

Add a scarf. A small detail that makes a big difference. I add scarves to everything, most recently here and here, so it probably comes as no surprise that they’re one of my favorite layering accessories. I love wearing a silk scarf around my neck like so. I recently got this equestrian inspired one, but also love all of these colorful ones that Tuckernuck just got!

Knee Boots. I bought these cognac leather knee boots last year and have worn them dozens and dozens of times since then- like here, here, here and here. I’ve found a few similar styles that came out this season, like these, these and these, and also found this almost identical pair for under $300 and these for under $200. These boots are my favorite go-to shoe for fall, as I love the way they look with dresses and skirts, from mini to midi and even maxi, and the cognac color is fall’s best neutral.

Neutral Double Breasted Coat. I bought this Max Mara coat in Italy a few years ago and it’s been a tried and true staple every fall and winter season. The oatmeal color works with everything and the medium length works well with both dresses and pants. While I can’t find this exact style online anymore, Max Mara does have a few similar styles here and here. I also found more coats that have a similar shape and color palette, but at a more Gal on a Budget price point- this one, this one and this one would all make for a beautiful new addition to your fall wardrobe. Also, Mansur Gavriel just came out with some gorgeous coats that have been drooling- this one has a similar vibe to mine.
