It’s very rare to see me in an all black outfit, or one that’s even comprised of more than one darker element. I’ve always been drawn to lighter hues, pastels and the softer side of the color spectrum. Maybe it’s the abundance of time we’ve been spending in NYC, or just a change of taste as I’m getting older, but I’ve found myself more recently drawn to black. Looking back at some of my favorite Audrey Hepburn photos, she always portrayed the color with such grace and elegance, diminishing the ideas that the shade is always bland and boring. Black Pants
A great pair of black trousers are just as much of a closet staple as my favorite pair of jeans. A pair of pants that transition seamlessly between work and play, working just a nicely with a blazer as they do with a tee. I found this Co pair recently and love the slightly cropped style and incredible fit. I’ve been looking for a nice pair of black trousers for our work days in NYC and finally found the perfect pair. There are a few similar styles at differing price points, like this pair, this pair and this pair.
Black Sweater
I have this Vince cashmere sweater in cream and loved it so much that I got it in black, too. I often overlook the latter, being naturally drawn to brighter, softer colors, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve already reached for this black style. A classic piece that you’ll wear all fall and winter long, for years to come as well. I found a few similar styles on Nordstrom like this one for under $50, along with this one and this one.
