We spent the second half of our time at Harbour Island at the Bahama House (the first half was spent here). We heard about the newly opened property while we were staying at Deplar Farm in Iceland, which just so happens to be owned by the same group- The Eleven Experience. We were blown away by the hotel in Iceland, so when we decided on Harbour Island as our warm weather getaway, we knew we wanted at least a few days at their property there. Upon check-in, I realized that we had driven by the property in our golf cart earlier in the week. But hidden behind a large pink walled courtyard with big palm leaves and other vegetation, you don’t get a sense of the dreamland behind them. It leaves everything up to the imagination, yet they’re still able to exceed even your greatest expectations.
As photographers, we were in heaven capturing the beauty of this place. Every detail was thought out, from the Yeti coolers with our favorite drinks throughout the property, to the specialized menu that was tailored to us, to the music we were able to sync in each room through our phones to the incredibly wonderful staff. It was just the same at the property in Iceland, yet so very different as we were now in the Bahamas. We’ve had the opportunity to stay at some amazing hotels and places during our travels and I have say, these two definitely stand out to us (and this is not sponsored!). When you leave a place feeling like you’re family, you know you had more than a great time. And that’s how we felt in both locations, even though they’re thousands of miles apart. With the closeness of the Bahamas to our new home, we’ll definitely be going back here every year, if not more!

Breakfast is both of our favorite meal and the food at the Bahamas House was amazing! Each morning there was a huge breakfast spread that was hard to resist, so there was no need to head elsewhere. I always pick sweet, while Thomas always picks savoring. We ate out at other restaurants and hotels for most of our lunches and dinners, which included Ocean Tally (for lunch), Sip Sip (for lunch), Queen Conch (for lunch), The Landing (for dinner), The Dunmore (for dinner & drinks), Romora Bay (for drinks & live music), The Ocean View Club (for dinner), Rock House (for drinks and dinner) and Da Vine (for dinner).

We wanted to spend one of our days out on the water, exploring more of the island that we would miss by foot or other places that are only accessible by boat. We headed out into the turquoise water, with nothing but clear skies and endless blues ahead. We first pulled up to some water caves, followed by a short hike to a blue hole on Eleuthera. I was a little too scared to jump, but it didn’t take Thomas much convincing to flip right in. Instead, I proudly took over camera duty, excited to be capturing some awesome snaps. Sadly, I completely overexposed every single one (I was so bummed out!), but our guide did take this video, which still makes me cringe with anxiousness!

After stopping by a small secluded beach for some fruit and cocktails, we headed back on the boat to our next stop- the beautiful Ocean Tally, where we were having lunch. I felt like we were completely transported somewhere totally different than the Bahamas. The water was a few shades darker with jagged cliffs, resembling that of something you’d see in the Mediterranean. We had a delicious fresh fish out on the courtyard overlooking the sea (seen above on the left) and afterward walked down to the natural made “pool”.

With the last bit of the afternoon sun, we dipped into the pool at the hotel before showering off and getting ready for dinner. Let me tell you, I sent so many pictures of this place to our interior designer while we were there. So much inspiration! I love the mix of prints (the pineapple wallpaper below!), natural fabrics, rattan, bamboo and greenery- many of the characteristics that we’re planning on incorporating in our new home. Many of the pieces at the Bahama House are vintage, which made it even more unique and one of a kind.
I pretty much brought two types of things to the Bahamas- swimsuits and dresses. And I couldn’t help but pick up a few items while we were there, too. Harbour Island has a handful of darling shops including Blue Rooster (my favorite), Miss Mae’s, The Sugar Mill (India Hick’s store) and Shine. I also wore my Roberta Roller Rabbit coverups almost everyday to the beach. I can’t find my exact one online, but I found a few similar ones here, here, here and here.

We never wanted to leave, but sadly, all good things must come to an end. As we packed up our bags, we promised ourselves that we would be back here soon and even put tentative dates on the calendar (and we’ve already been recruiting friends to come with us next time!).
