Privacy Please Dress (romper version here), Ancient Greek Sandals, Preston & Olivia Hat
Like I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we arrived to Portofino and kept our first afternoon pretty casual. We checked into the beautiful Hotel Splendido which has a spectacular view of the harbor. It’s only about a 10 minute walk into town, so after having a late lunch on the terrace, we skipped the shuttle into town in favor of walking down the path that wound along the cliffs into the heart of Portofino.
When we first arrive in a new place, whether it be a resort or a city, we like to quickly drop off our bags, freshen up a bit and then get out and explore the vicinity near our hotel. Normally, we have no real intention but to get some fresh air, get a bit of exercise and get a bite to eat. However, we find that this really helps us get a feel for somewhere new and it helps us better prepare for the remainder of our time there. This is essentially what we did when we arrived in Portofino.
The naturally protected port was mostly filled with small fishing boats but there were a few yachts amongst them. We were told that during the height of summertime, the harbor is a hot spot for super yachts. This helps explain how, what we found to be a sleepy coastal town when we visited in April, could support super luxury clothing shops like Loro Piana, Fendi, Brunello Cucinelli and more.
I love a great wrap dress and I love maxi dresses and this Privacy Please number (that also comes in a darling romper version here) is the perfect blend of the two. I especially love dresses like this particular one because it can be worn for so many different occasions ranging from a weekend brunch to a summer wedding. If you’re looking for something similar that can get you through an array of events and weekends this upcoming summer season, I’ve found some beautiful options here, here, here and here.
