After three nights in Somerset, Thomas and I took the scenic route to the Cotswolds. Even before we arrived I knew I was going to love it (and I was right!). We spent a few hours before our trip researching all of the towns and villages, trying to narrow down our favorites that we wanted to visit. At the top of that list was Bibury. Bibury looks like it is straight out of a storybook, filled with cobblestone streets, perfect little cottages and even swans! We woke up extra early to head over and get the beautiful morning light over the village.

A few locals told us that we were really lucky to see the swans and their swanlets that morning! They were so adorable, I just wanted to follow them everywhere. There is also the cutest Inn across the bridge called The Swan Hotel that actually looks like a darling place to stay. We’re bookmarking it for next time!

One thing to note about the English Countryside is that the people are incredibly kind and friendly! Thomas and I love to just wander but we’re always really timid or worried about trespassing or accidentally being in someone’s yard. Numerous times, we had locals invite us through their property or give us tips on places to seek out. We also didn’t know about (until a few days into our trip) the public rights of way, which are paths on private land that the public has the right to use for the purposes of passing and repassing through. We wandered into a small circle of villages where an older lady was taking her dog out for a walk, she said good morning to Thomas and me and started talking to us. She then told us to follow her through the gate (above) that we thought was private and told us to follow the path until we came to a meadow with a beautiful view of Bibury Court (below).

Arlington Row might be the most picturesque spot in Bibury. It was pretty surreal being there after pouring over so many photos and picturing it in my mind for so long.

I wore this floral ASOS dress with a pale pink Banana Republic Sweater and my Burberry trench which definitely came in handy during our trip. I wasn’t expecting it to be quite as cold as it was, we could see bits of spring starting to peek through, but everyone kept saying that it was unseasonably cold for May. Regardless, we still had the best time and just layered up with all of the warm pieces we did have packed with us.
