This past weekend Thomas and I decided to ditch the rain and head to Santa Barbara for a few days of sunshine. I don’t know why we don’t do the drive more often, it’s not as bad as it seems. We left ThursdayĀ evening and arrived to Solvang around midnight (the drive took about 5 hours with some traffic) and checked into The Landsby and crashed immediately. We’re planning to head back sometime this summer and stay around the Solvang/Los Olivos area because it’s beautiful! We actually did our engagement photos there back in 2012 with Ryan Ray. It brings back such fun memories!
The following morning weĀ made the hour drive to Santa Barbara and checked into the incredible San Ysidro Ranch. Ah! This hotel is paradise and I’m already trying to figure out when we can plan our next trip back. On Saturday morning we decided we wanted to spend as much time outside in the sunshine, so we made our way over to the Santa Barbara Farmer’s Market to pick up some food for a picnic later in the afternoon. We filled our basket up with hummus and vegetables, strawberries, blackberries, nuts and fresh flowers (this also made for the perfect snack foods for the drive home on Sunday).
I can never resist fresh lavender. It now reminds me of our time spent in Provence last summer and all of the lavender scented goodiesĀ (and ice cream!) everywhere. Remember this post, this post and this post?
Thomas and I always love to stop by different farmer’s markets when we’re traveling (if the timing is right) instead of heading to grocery store to get food. We get tired of eating out and love being able to have healthy snacks on the go. We usually only buy enough to fit in the fridge in our hotel room or dry goods only so nothing goes bad.
I was fully embracing the wonderful weather that SB had and slipped into this off the shoulder top, a favorite pair of distressed jeans and these comfy Stuart Weitzman wedges. I can already tell that they’re going to be my go-to shoe for spring and summer. They’re comfortable enough to spend the day in but still give me the extra height, that’s what I love about wedges. I’m also really into these Stuart Weitzman linen platform oxfordsĀ or this lace up pair,Ā I can see both pairing perfectly with a cotton dress.
